I grew up in rural Ohio, and I currently reside in a small mountain town in North Carolina with my wife, Becca, and our two rescue dogs, Scanno and Sergi. In between these two places, my homes have been in Kansas City, Missouri; a small village in the southern Rockies; Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Asheville, North Carolina. After graduating from college, I served as a VISTA volunteer in Kansas City, taught history in New Mexico, worked in the mental health field in Asheville, taught history in Buncombe County Schools, and taught humanities (including creative writing) in a private school in Asheville. Currently, I am writing stories, mostly fantasy fiction. When Iā€™m not writing or volunteering in our community, I read, travel, camp, bike, hike, and run. I have also been well trained to take orders from my bossy dachshund, Sergi.
